“Zeal did a wonderful job in securing me a substantial tax refund. They kept me updated at all times and informed me in advance of the way to proceed. I would be happy to recommend their service to anyone.’’

Overview of the claim

Business property owners are often sceptical when they hear they could be entitled to thousands of pounds in tax relief as it sounds ‘too good to be true’. However, after the owner of Bowenhurst Kennel & Cattery reviewed their bespoke proposal outlining the savings Zeal could unlock, she was excited to proceed with making an embedded fixtures claim. The owner requested that Zeal liaise directly with her accountant. This meant that she could have little involvement in the process but still reap the benefits of claiming.

Qualifying items

One of our in-house Capital Allowances surveyors visited the property to conduct a technical survey of the site and uncover all qualifying items. The survey identified qualifying expenditure including electrical, heating, water and ventilation systems, kitchen fixtures, toilet facilities, disposal installations, ironmongery, fire and lighting protection, security systems and telecommunications.

The allowances identified amounted to over £75k. This generated a total of £34k in tax savings for the owner, including a cash repayment of over £15,000 for overpaid tax.
