What owner Mr Musto said . . .
“I had no idea that I could make this kind of claim and I'd have been none the wiser without HJR Tax. The whole process was easy and only took a few weeks. I received two cash rebates from HMRC for overpaid tax totalling more than £4,000 and now I have thousands left over which will reduce my tax payments over the next five years."
Overview of the claim
Mr Musto was intrigued to learn more about the undetected allowances within his property after hearing about the success another business owner in the area had achieved. After a face-to-face consultation with one of our specialists, Mr Musto was amazed by the amount of tax savings he could be entitled and was eager to proceed as quickly as possible. Within days, a specialist capital allowances property surveyor visited the site and conducted a technical building survey to evaluate the full scope of qualifying expenditure.
Qualifying items
Qualifying items included water, electrical, heating and ventilation systems, telecommunications, sanitary appliances, disposal installations, ironmongery and fire and light protection plus bar counters and beer pumps. More than £67,000 of previously unclaimed allowances were uncovered – equating to nearly 30% of the original purchase price. This generated almost £27k in tax savings for the owner, reduced the owner’s next tax bill by 40% and induced a cash refund of more than £4,000 after fees.
